Carpinteria State Beach

Carpinteria State Beach

Ten miles south of Santa Barbara, Carpinteria State Beach offers a mile of beach for recreating and camping. Although dogs are not allowed on beach, they have a great picnic area where they are allowed to enjoy the outdoors as well.

Lifeguards patrol the beach year round and lifeguard towers are staffed roughly from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. The Spanish named the area Carpinteria because the Chumash tribe, which lived in the area, had a large seagoing canoe-building enterprise, or “carpentry shop” here. This was because of naturally-occurring surface tar, which was used to waterproof the canoes.

Note – For State Parks: We currently cannot deliver within the state park campgrounds (Gaviota, Refugio, El Capitan, Carpinteria & Emma Wood). For the these locations, we deliver to the outside of the campground and you would need to tow the trailer in from there. We are in-progress for obtaining a State Park concession permit and look forward to being able to provide full service delivery to these locations sometime in 2023.
